Sodalean Review: How Far Can You Take the Microbiome Claim?

The microbiome is the most interesting area in this whole category and the most frequently overstated. This article separates the two.

The short version

Microbial composition differs between people at different weights. Whether changing it causes weight change is not settled.

What is genuinely established

Several things, and they are not trivial.

Composition differs between people at different body weights, consistently enough to be a real observation rather than noise.

Fermentation produces short-chain fatty acids — butyrate, propionate, acetate — which influence appetite hormones including GLP-1 and PYY, and affect insulin sensitivity.

Dietary fibre reliably shifts populations. This is one of the more reproducible findings in nutrition, and it works through food as well as supplements.

Akkermansia muciniphila, named on one of these pages, is a genuine focus of metabolic research with early human data. It is a mucin-degrading organism associated with better metabolic markers.

What is not established

Causation. Whether microbial differences cause weight differences or result from the diets that produced them is the central open question, and it is genuinely open. Animal work is suggestive; human evidence is thinner.

That any probiotic produces weight loss. No strain has been established as a weight-loss intervention. Individual trials show small effects; the picture across them is inconsistent.

That a capsule shifts your microbiome meaningfully. Prebiotic fibre does this at gram-scale amounts. At capsule scale there is no reason to expect it.

The claim we would remove

One page states the formula “directly attacks the harmful bacteria that sabotage weight loss and promotes the growth of good bacteria that activate fat burning.”

That is wrong in a specific way. Prebiotics do not attack anything — they are food for particular populations, and the balance shifts because those populations grow, not because others are destroyed. The framing borrows the language of an antimicrobial for an ingredient that is a fibre.

It also implies a level of targeting nobody can currently achieve. We cannot reliably direct a person’s microbiome toward a specified composition, let alone with one capsule daily.

What genuinely shifts your microbiome is dietary fibre variety — different plants, different fibre types, consistently. That is available in a supermarket, it comes in grams without counting, and it costs nothing extra.

What the seller does well

It would be dishonest to review this product on criticism alone, so here is what holds up.

The ingredients are real and sensibly chosen. Green tea extract, chicory inulin, resistant starch and apple cider vinegar all have genuine research behind them. Chicory inulin in particular has regulatory recognition in Europe for bowel function, which is more than most supplement ingredients achieve.

One page states the capsules are vegetarian and lactose-free. That is useful, specific information a great many sellers never provide.

The refrigeration instruction is honest. Telling buyers to refrigerate after opening for probiotic viability is a real handling detail that costs the seller convenience and gains them nothing commercially.

Each page’s pricing arithmetic multiplies correctly, and both carry the FDA disclaimer and exclude pregnancy and nursing explicitly.

Independent background reading, none of it selling anything: MedlinePlus on dietary supplements, WHO on obesity and NCCIH on green tea. For the applied version of this on our own pages, see how the formula is meant to work or the Sodalean official website reference.

What we would do

Read the ingredient list and the guarantee text on the exact page taking your money, and screenshot both with the date visible — the official pages describe different products on different terms. Take the smallest package. Photograph the Supplement Facts panel when it arrives and compare it against what you were sold. Weigh at the same time each morning and compare weekly averages rather than individual days. And diarise day 50, assuming the shorter version of the guarantee applies.

How to verify any of this

Every figure above comes from a source you can check yourself: the ingredient lists and guarantee terms published on the seller’s own pages, and peer-reviewed literature on each named ingredient. Where an amount is not disclosed — which on this product is everywhere — we say so rather than estimating it. If you find something here that is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will re-check it and re-date the page.

Frequently asked

Because probiotic evidence is strain-specific and no strains are named, and there is no CFU count. “Three strains” is not information a buyer can act on.

No manufacturer is named on any page. Checkout routes to third-party order platforms, and one page's canonical URL points to an entirely different store domain.

The smallest, if any. You do not know which formula will arrive or what the doses are, and on the 60-day terms most of a six-bottle order falls outside the refund window.

No. It is a weight-management supplement marketed to adults generally. Some review titles circulating online call it a men's vitality gummy, which is wrong on every count.

About this article

Written and fact-checked against primary sources: the printed Supplement Facts panel, the official order page, the published return policy and peer-reviewed literature. Every claim touching dosing, interactions or contraindications is reviewed by Dr. Salome Vantaa, PharmD, BCACP before publication. See our editorial policy.

Disclaimer. Concentrated green tea extract carries a rare but documented liver-injury signal; green tea, acetic acid and fermentable fibre can each lower blood glucose; green tea contains vitamin K, which affects warfarin; and fibre reduces absorption of levothyroxine and iron taken at the same time. Take the ingredient list to a pharmacist before ordering.
